If you're searching for a career that merges clinical excellence with leadership and quality improvement, then CPPS patient safety certification could be your next big step.
WHAT IS CPPS CERTIFICATION?
The Certified Professional in Patient Safety CPPS credential is awarded by the Certification Board for Professionals in Patient Safety (CBPPS). It’s designed for professionals who demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of patient safety concepts, systems thinking, and risk reduction strategies.
The exam covers four core domains:

- Systems thinking and human factors engineering and design.
- Safety risks and response.
- Performance measurement, analysis, improvement and monitoring.
These domains ensure that a CPPS-certified individual can identify risks, lead safety initiatives, implement improvement plans, and build a sustainable culture of safety in healthcare organizations.
N.B.: According to the CPPS Candidate Handbook (2024), candidates from clinical and non-clinical backgrounds who provided they met the experience or educational requirements are eligible to take the exam.
